Parents – Prospectus

Dear Parents/Carers

I am pleased to have this opportunity to tell you about our school and hope it will give you an insight into the wide range of opportunities offered to every pupil. We hope you will find this booklet a useful introduction to the school, but if there is anything else you would like to know, please don’t hesitate to ask. You are always welcome to telephone or visit the school.

At Holme Valley Primary School, we aim to provide the very highest standards of education. All the staff have high expectations of the children and themselves, and work closely together to ensure each child achieves his or her full potential. In November 2013 Ofsted recognised the excellent work of the school and awarded an ‘Outstanding’ judgement in all 4 key areas.

We value academic achievement highly, but believe a school should take a broader view than that. Our school encourages the development of tolerance, respect, perseverance and a sense of commitment. It also emphasises the importance of caring, sharing and learning to work and play together in a secure and happy environment; skills and attitudes which will be important in later life.

Our school has achieved a range of awards for a variety of purposes. Currently we hold the Basic Skills Quality Mark, in recognition of the quality of our education and learning; the Artsmark Gold for the quality of our Arts and Drama; the Space Education Quality Mark; the Primary Science Quality Mark Gold ; Liverpool Reading Quality Mark Gold; the National Healthy Schools Award; and the Investors in People Silver Award for supporting all areas of the school community.

Although we are very proud of this national recognition we have not become complacent and are always working towards improvement. We cannot do this alone. We believe you, as parents or carers, have a very important role to play and we actively encourage close co-operation between home and school. We value and build on the experience and knowledge that children bring from home, and share with you the responsibility for ensuring that your child enjoys the very best primary education; an education that provides firm foundations on which to build success in the future.

By working together we can make sure this happens.

Yours sincerely

Rachel Stephenson – Headteacher
